My Story

It all started with an ECE engineering degree, and I won't brag about it. But I was pretty good in electronics, I always wanted to build a lot of things and play with innovations, but you must be wondering then how I ended up holding a camera in my hand.

Well, covid changed the entire world, and I am just a human being.

After covid, doing online classes felt pointless, doing practicals online, seeing teachers do all the things and you are just on mute watching some web series. That was my fault actually but that's not the point, the point is it felt worthless, at least to me.

So I dropped out of my college in 3rd year and started digging up my hobbies. I was into music at that time, and with music I was always interested in making magic videos, something similar to Zach King. But then I started getting interest in how camera works, what's ISO, shutter speed, and why everyone shoots in log? And after getting my first camera, which was a Sony a6400 with a 16-50mm kit lens, I learned all the basics and did a few filmmaking courses online. And then in 2021, I got an opportunity to shoot my first film which was a music video of my brother, and luckily, it was a big shoot with almost 20 crew members, and the filmmaking courses did help me to pull off the music video.

Then I continued this journey for almost 2 years, it was nice but Instagram took my interest to short form content. Vertical compositions were challenging at times, because there was no study of how to make anything look cinematic on a 9:16 ratio, everyone worked with landscapes until now. I started outreaching to cafes, fashion brands for just an opportunity to shoot and experiment with vertical frames. And at the time I was in Chandigarh, the nearest city was full of opportunities and I always believed this one thing, that you are not a tree, so move if you feel like moving. So I moved out and ended up in Delhi with absolutely zero clients, but still I was doing music videos in Chandigarh.

After 100s of random messages to cafes, and a few follow ups, I finally got a message late night around 11:40pm from an owner, and he asked me to do a meeting tomorrow in Galleria Gurgaon. I went there and we talked and with absolutely zero experience in F&B, I said, just give me a month and I will show you the quality content, and he trusted me, and after a month, he called and said that "Bro!! You killed it!" And if you have read it so far then I won't leave you with this suspense of who that person was — he was Rohit Beniwal, the owner of Melthouse and Butterhands.

After that there was no point of stopping, and day after day I started working with more cafes, explored fashion, products and industrial work as well. And still I feel like I have a lot of things to cover, a bunch more to learn, but what's one thing that I don't want to do, is sit and wait for the moment to happen. People make their way on their own, enough of motivational thing.
